Indy is going after NFL Draft as early as 2024

The city of Indianapolis and Indiana Sports Corp are planning to pitch their plan to host the NFL Draft as early as 2024.  The Indianapolis Business Journal says that Visit Indy held preliminary talks with the NFL about hosting the 3-day event through a 5-year window from 2024 through 2028.  Word is that this is the best opportunity for the city to host the showcase event.  City officials are planning to meet with the NFL this fall to further discussions.  Those talks have included ways to activate area attractions around the city including Georgia Street, Monument Circle, and the Indiana Convention Center.  This past April,  Nashville, Tennessee hosted the event and set a record attendance of 600,000 people. Kasey Kahne wins crash filled Brickyard 400 in the dark

Hendrick Motorsports Kasey Kahne had a career move late in the race and saved his job likely with winning the 2017 Brickyard 400.  Kasey Kahne pitted with 8 laps to go when the caution came out which allowed him to pit and get back out behind the pace car first.  Kahne overcame several cautions and darkness to win the biggest race of his career. This year's race was a crash filled race and attendance was still down at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  From green flag to checkered flag, the race took 6 hours and 10 minutes which included a record 14 caution flags and 2 red flags. IMS opens this weekend with the Indy Grand Prix

The gates of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway open back up in less than two weeks with the Indy Grand Prix race.  Gates open Friday May 12th at 7:30AM with practice and qualifying for the USF 2000, Pro Mazda, Indy Lights Series and the Verizon IndyCar Series.  907
