It’s that time of the year again, it’s conference tournament time and the first up this year, the Big Ten Conference in New York City. The Big Ten moved up the tournament due to the availability of Madison Square Garden being used by the Big East Tournament during the normal week.
Conference tournaments give us a lot of surprises each year and last year there were 17 #1 seeds that won their tournament which means this year’s tournament will be crazy and wild.
Here are my predictions for each conference tournament this year. Let’s see how well I do.
Big Ten: Purdue (The Boilers knock off the Hoosiers, Buckeyes, and Spartans in route to their 2nd tournament title. Purdue gets the train rolling again and gets revenge on Ohio St and Sparty locking up the 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament)
West Coast: Gonzaga ( The Zags continue their dominance in the West Coast and knock off St. Mary’s in the finals)
ACC: Duke (The Blue Devils are always money during the ACC Tournament and this year is no different…Sorry Virginia)
Big East: Villanova (The Wildcats have been struggling lately…3-3 in their last 6 games, but right the ship and win the Big East)
Big 12: West Virginia (Kansas may have won season title, but WV has been in finals of B12 Tourney the last two year, this year they get the championship beating an inconsistent Kansas team)
Pac 12: USC (With the turmoil at Arizona, USC emerges as the favorite and is the hottest team in Pac 12 currently)
American: Wichita St (The Shockers played well in their first season in the American conference and get their 1st tourney title over Cincinnati)
SEC: Kentucky (It’s been an up and down season for Coach Cal’s squad, but in a wide-open SEC, I think the Wildcats get it together and win the SEC Tourney. They will likely lose in the round of 32 the following week but an SEC tourney title will ease the pain)
Ohio Valley: Murray St.( The Racers will race their way into another NCAA Tournament appearance)
Atlantic Sun: Florida Gulf Coast ( FGC is the best team in the Atlantic Sun and will dominate the tourney and make their 3rd straight NCAA appearance)
Big South: Winthrop
Missouri Valley: Loyola-Chicago
Southern: UNC Greensboro
Horizon: Northern Kentucky
Summitt: South Dakota
American East: Vermont
Big Sky: Montana
Big West: UC Irvine
Conference USA: Middle Tennessee St.
Mid-American: Ball State ( Of course I’m taking my Alma Mater…CHIRP CHIRP)
MEAC: NC A&T
Mountain West: Nevada
SWAC: Southern (Grambling is ineligible so Southern is my pick….every team is below .500 in a TERRIBLE conference)
WAC: New Mexico State (The Aggies are having a great year and haven’t been this good since Steve Alford was coach)
Atlantic 10: Rhode Island (Rhode Island is playing well all season and seems like a clear-cut favorite for the A-10 tourney)
Southland: Stephen F. Austin
Sun Belt: Louisana
Pull out the pens and paper and erasers and practice filling out your brackets for the big tourney now with the conference tourneys! This is the best time of the year and I for one can’t wait!Follow Us Here:
