ESPN’s Mark Stein reported Friday evening that former Pacers guard and Indianapolis native Jeff Teague has committed to sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves once free agency signing begins in 3 hours. Teague came to the Pacers in a trade last off-season. Teague last season with the Pacers averaged 15.3 points, 7.8 assists and 4.0 rebounds on 44.2 percent shooting from the field, including 35.7 percent from three.
While the T-Wolves traded their point guard Ricky Rubio today to the Jazz, it opened up the starting position that all signs point to Teague signing with them.
The Pacers had a strong chance to keep re-sign Teague to a contract most likely until Paul George announced that he was leaving after next season. Teague doesn’t want to have to go through a rebuild process and the T-Wolves who added Jimmy Butler with KAT and Wiggins have a team that is on the rise in the Western Conference.
