Team Penske came out today but didn’t show too much of their stuff. They are expected to be at the top of the charts late in the weeks so no need for a concern. Power, Castroneves, Newgarden and Montoya will be up on the charts come Wednesday or Thursday this week.
Defending Indy 500 champion Alexander Rossi was 13th at 223.481 mph. Formula One driver Fernando Alonso was 19th with top speed of 223.025 mph. Practice for Day 2 begins tomorrow at 12:00pm. Tickets are $15.00 to get out there and see these drivers go around the 2.5 mile course.
There were 10 yellow flags and only 2 incidents for the day. Graham Rahal did have a mechanical issue towards the end of practice so that will be something to watch for this week.
There was a total of 1300 laps ran today within the 4 hour window.
