Swanigan’s 28th Double-Double leads Purdue to Sweet 16

Caleb Swanigan dominated Purdue’s 2nd round matchup against Iowa State in Milwaukee.  The Cyclones had no answer for Purdue’s big men of Swanigan and Issac Haas. It came down to a showdown between Swanigan and Deonte Burton from the Cyclones.  Each possession, they went head to head that was great to watch.  Purdue’s twin towers showed tonight just how good Purdue can be if both big men are playing well.  Not only was Purdue’s big men doing work, but the perimeter players of C. Edwards, V. Edwards, Cline and Mathias were hitting the 3 pointers at will.  Vince Edwards has saved this team time after time when Haas and Biggie were in foul trouble and Vince will have to continue to play at a high level to compliment Biggie.  Purdue can’t afford to live and die by the three pointer all tournament or it will spell a quick departure.  If Purdue can continue to work inside/out, this team can cut down the nets in April !

Just how far can this Purdue team go ?  The Boilers at times show that they are a potential Final Four team and have Purdue fans salivating at what could happen in this tournament run.  There isn’t one big man in the remainder of the tournament that can match will for will with Swanigan.  A potential match-up against Kansas would be a test that Purdue hasn’t seen since their game earlier in the season against #1 Villanova.  As a Boilermaker fan, it’s great to have them back in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2010.  Let’s enjoy the rest of the ride and the remainder of games we get to see Swanigan in a Purdue uniform before he goes to the NBA.

Survive and Advance…..That’s all that matters now !
